Eminem was born Marshall Bruce Mathers III, in St. Joseph, Missouri, on October 17th, 1972. He grew up in both Kansas City and a suburb of Detroit. In 1995, his wife Kim Mathers gave birth to a daughter, Hailie Jade. soon after he released his premier album of his own music, called Infinite. Reportedly, he sold a few hundred copies of his album out of his car.

In the year following, he and his spouse Kim went through a tough period, and Eminem attempted suicide after a certain heated argument. Drawing on these passionate experiences, Eminem released his second CD, Slim Shady LP in 1997. The considerably darker CD sold over three million copies and was one of the most successful albums of 1999. He and his mate Kim were ultimately divorced.
